“Entrepreneurship” and “Return on Investment” are buzzwords both generating a lot of attention these days in technology transfer circles – especially in federal programs working within the new President’s Management Agenda. But what might all this new attention and focus mean in a practical sense, particularly at the level of a technology transfer office, laboratory research program or even an individual investigator? And how will you handle the likely issues and challenges that individual tech transfer officers and program managers will face in reaching goals of this nature?
About Our Speaker:
Steven M. Ferguson currently serves as a Special Advisor for the NIH Office of Technology Transfer where he has worked since 1990. The biomedical technology transfer program at NIH is one of the world’s largest with a portfolio that includes about 1500 active licenses, 400 of which report product sales in aggregate greater than $6B per year. A former chemist at the National Cancer Institute and biotech industry product manager, Mr. Ferguson holds Master’s Degrees in Business Administration (George Washington University) and Chemistry (University of Cincinnati) as well as Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry (Case Western Reserve University).
